cheltfineart.co.uk this is a great place to learn how to paint, draw, sculpt, collage, print. It is based close to Montpellier in Cheltenham and has classes on most days Monday - Friday (some evenings and often at the weekends. Very friendly and suitable for all abilities. Bring cake!
www.centrearts.co.uk a centre for learning arts, crafts and the ukelele !(among other fun stuff). Also puts on exhibitions of artists' work. General all round good eggs are Zaphira and Matthew who run it .
www.hypergallery.com - my chum Andy Wood helps run this virtual gallery. It specialising in prints for album covers. This site is fab, just to reminise about those LPs you loved OR if you have a bit of dosh to buy a bit of history for pleasure or investment. I did and my 'Dark Side of the Moon' print is making more than my ISAs!
Nuno Gonçalves - www.mantisartstudio.moonfruit.com My chum Nuno does paintings and portraits and is pretty ***t hot. So much so that I have one of his pictures, which I shall retire on in a few years!
Angela's paintings are just fab - click on her link - www.angelafindlay.com/
Where to get art supplies:
The Range - based off the Tewkesbury Road, Cheltenham (you need to drive). Good for basic art supplies, especially if you are on a budget. Go there first if you can for acrylics, oils, watercolours, paper etc.
Don't forget Wilko's too for really basic stuff. You'll be surprised.
Hobbycraft is a little more pricey and is by Sainsburys a little further down Tewkesbury Road. It has a slightly better range of frames and stuff. Do NOT go armed with a credit card! I always spend too much if I do!
www.strandarts.co.uk This is based in the centre of cheltenham and you get 10% off if you are a student at CFA school. Competitively priced for the 'posher' items
www.jacksonsart.com This is based miles from anywhere in Quedgely, but you can order online and it sometimes can save you a lot and has a huge range of stuff.
